Relationships
Main Description

Prior to the To-Be Design phase business requirements have been gathered and captured in various forms and originating from different sources. The objective is to complete the definite set of business requirements that will be used as guidance for the To-Be Design phase. Note that during this task it is not intended that the business requirements are evaluated as being applicable or important for the To-Be Design phase.

Two main topics are addressed.

First topic is to ensure that each business requirement is understood and to make sure what is meant or intended with the business requirement. This may involve obtaining clarification from the source(s) and to enhance or re-articulate the business requirement so the business requirement is clear and unambiguous. The way to do this is to go through all the business requirements and to ask oneself if the business requirement is understood and what the intention of the business requirement is.

The second topic to be addressed is to make sure that at this point in time this list is the exhaustive list of business requirements to be taken into scope for the To-Be Design. This is to ensure that there are not any "forgotten" business requirements that pop out of the woodwork halfway the design phase. The way to do this is to compile a complete list of business requirements and to start a confirmation process with the client to assure that this list is complete and exhaustive.
